Welcome to Whimsy Woods Farm!
About Us: Our story begins with two people and a dream! What started with a love for animals, and living a self sustainable lifestyle has over the years blossomed into Whimsy Woods Farm. We began raising Nigerian Dwarf goats in 2017. We started with 3 wethers and one little doeling. We quickly fell in love with their loving and inquisitive nature, and basically from that point on we became hooked. The following year we purchased our first registered goats, and the rest is history!
Nigerians have AMAZING milk. For their size they are great producers. Their milk has one of the highest fat contents of all dairy breeds, making it great for things like cheese, ice cream, yogurt and soap! Its thick creamy texture makes it delicious as a stand alone product as well.
Our goal is to produce Nigerians that not only are loving and friendly farm family members, but also are conformationally correct, and competitors on the milk stand and show ring. Basically, we are trying to create the "total package" in our goats- high dairy production, a show stopping show goat and a loving farm companion all wrapped up in one little cute caprine!
We test our breeding/show stock annually for CAE and have always tested negative, and our foundation stock has also come from CAE negative herds. We also run tests for Johne's and CL yearly, using random sampling and picking different herd individuals every year and have also always had negative results. We are proud to now be participating in milk test with all of our adult does. We feel that not only is this program a rewarding one to take part in, but it also will help us make better decisions when it comes to our breeding plans.
